Ananda and Eduar | Destination Wedding Riviera Maya
The first time I spoke with Ananda, as she told me all about her dreamy plans for a destination wedding in the Riviera Maya, I knew we were a match. Her warmth and laid back personality instantly resonated at a deep level. We laughed and talked about the style of photography she wanted, or more accurately that she didn’t know she wanted until she had viewed my portfolio. I was honored. She loved the idea of capturing the intimate moments of the whole experience. She was excited by the prospect of seeing her unique love story captured from beginning to end. This wedding will always hold a special and dear place in my heart because it was my first International Destination Wedding photography experience. There couldn’t have been a more loving, fun and beautiful couple to share it with.
Thursday
I arrived at the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort on Thursday evening around 5 and found Ananda, Eduar and friends in the pool sharing laughter and drinks. Ananda jumped up and we embraced for moments like old friends. Eduar extended a very warm welcome and we made plans for the morning, I went on to explore the grounds and retired early.
Wedding Day
I woke at 5am to prepare for the day. At about 6:30am I joined Ananda and Eduar in their suite overlooking the ocean. They were just waking up. The morning light was filtering through the sliding glass doors from the balcony and bathing the room in a warm glow. Ananda and Eduar shared soft conversations and laughter as I circled around the room unnoticed. The love between them was all present and uninterrupted by my presence. This sacred time was beautiful to witness. Some time later, breakfast and then the wedding day picked up pace with a ceremony on the beach followed by the reception.
What struck me more than anything was the comfort surrounding the experience. The comfort in themselves, with each other, with everyone around them. Ananda and Eduar have an absolutely beautiful and intimate love story.
